Now I turn my attention to the front wall. It was once a garage door so it has a gigantic header which has been filled with windows. I am going to replace them with a three section glass door.

I start by ripping down the old sheetrock to expose the structural timber.

From the outside you can see my problem. They used a 2 x 6 to frame around the garage door and it sticks out 2 inches beyond the sheeting and looks like heck. I am going to replace the 2 x 6 with a 2 x 4 and resheet the exterior.

While I was yanking down sheetrock, I continued around the corner to expose the electric panel which will make it easier to trace wires and run new ones.
